Due to a high volume of program registrations for spring programs on Friday, February 21, the following measures have been put in place:

From 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. all use of the website will be suspended. Contact a recreation facility to book a court or drop-in activity reservation.

All users will be placed in the waiting room queue at 8:00 a.m. until registration opens at 9:00 a.m. When registrations opens at 9:00 a.m., users will be randomly placed in line in the queue.

Email confirmation of registration and payment will be delayed and will take several hours to complete.

During busy registration periods, course payments will appear as a credit on your activeOshawa account, and registrations will appear as pending under "My Courses".

National Lifeguard - Pool

As Canada's professional lifeguard standard, National Lifeguard training develops a sound understanding of lifeguarding principles, good judgment, and a mature and responsible attitude towards the lifeguard's role. The course emphasizes prevention and effective rescue response in emergencies including first aid treatment. Candidates develop teamwork, leadership, and communication skills. Fitness requirements include a timed object recovery, 50 metre sprint challenge, 50 metre rescue drill, and 400 metre endurance challenge.

Prerequisite: Minimum 15 years of age by the exam date and Bronze Cross and Standard First Aid from a WSIB approved agency.
